This quest is members-only.
Start Point: Speak to the Golem in the ruins of Uzer, in the desert east of the Shantay Pass
Requirements: Level 20 Crafting and Level 25 Thieving
Items Required: Papyrus, Empty Vial, Pestle and Mortar, 4 Soft Clay; Desert Survival Equipment recommended
Head down to the Shantay Pass to prepare for your travels to Uzer. Go through the Shantay Pass, and head east until you find a bridge, cross it and head due east to the ruins of Uzer or take the Magic Carpet Transportation to the Ruins.
Speak to the Broken clay golem and it'll appear that he needs repairs...
Use 4 pieces of clay on the broken golem to fix him, then talk to him again. He'll then ask you to re-open a portal to kill a demon and that you'll need to arrange the statuettes downstairs.
Note: If you have trouble finding clay there's a mine north of Uzer and Shantay sells jugs of water.
Go downstairs and turn a statuette, you'll realize there's one missing...
Go back upstairs and west of the golem there's a few crates, pick up the letter near them and read it - It's from Elissa of the Varrock Digsite.
Head to the Varrock Digsite east of Varrock, in the northeast corner of the digsite you'll find Elissa.
Speak to Elissa about the letter in the desert. She'll tell you of her late husband, his excavations, and that his notes can be found in the Digsite Exam Centre Library.
Go to the Digsite Exam Centre and search the most southeastern bookcase for Varmen's notes, which in he'll mention that he removed one of the statuettes during his studies among other things.
Head to the Museum of Varrock and Speak to the Curator about the statuette, he refuses to give it to you but tells you it's upstairs in the display case. Pickpocket the Curator for the Display cabinet key.
Go upstairs and use the Display cabinet key with Display case and take the statuette.
Go back through the Shantay Pass, and head east to the ruins of Uzer again or take the Magic Carpet Transportation to the Ruins. Go downstairs and use the Statuette on the empty Alcove.
Then turn the statuettes so that the west pair faces left, and the east pair faces right. You may check your progress by examining the statuettes.
Enter the big doorway that opened to the north and you'll enter the demon's lair... You'll discover he's dead.
Hint: If you use a chisel with a hammer on the throne, you will recieve 2 Sapphires, 2 Emeralds, and 2 Rubies.
Head back to the golem and he seems to be stubborn, you'll have to force him what to believe.
Pick some black mushrooms at the top of the stairs or in the ruins. Use the pestle and mortar on them to get black mushroom ink in your empty vial. Go back downstairs and take the Strange impliment in the northwest corner of the ruins. Head north of the city and take a feather from the Desert Phoenix. Use the Black Mushroom ink on the feather to obtain a phoenix quill pen. Use the phoenix quill pen on your papyrus to obtain your golem program.
Head back to the golem and use the Strange impliment on him and then use the golem program on him before his skull shuts.
