Alternate Ranging Weapons

By: Data/Loggy

* Note: Black = Neutral Stat, Purple = Attack Stats, Blue = Defense Stats

All alternate ranged weapons are members-only.

Besides the widely used bow and crossbow, there are some other Ranged weapons available, each offering their own advantages. On this page you will find all the lesser-used and alternate ranging weapons sometimes used by rangers in Runescape, along with information about each item. Please note that all these items are members-only.

Darts

Darts are player made weapons that require the use of both the Smithing and Fletching skills. To make them you must have completed the Tourist Trap Quest. 10 dart tips can be obtained from smithing one bar of any metal. Darts have the advantage of being one handed and are faster than bows. Darts do less damage than their equivalent arrow types, but are quicker. Darts may be poisoned for extra potency.

Chinchompas

Chinchompas can be obtained by Box Trapping via the Hunter Skill. They can be stacked and used as a one-time explosive. The chinchompas have three different attack styles: Short, Medium and Long. The style you choose will determine the length of fuse. It is more effective to use a style according to the distance of your enemy.

Lizards and Salamanders

Lizards and salamanders can be captured using the Hunter Skill and then used as a range weapon. All of them require a herb tar as fuel, made by mixing 15 Swamp Tar and a specific herb that is different for each type. This will create 15 Herb Tar. The necessary herb will be listed below.

Holy Water

Holy Water

Holy Water is a special ranged 'weapon', of sorts. It works like any other one handed weapon, but only affects demons, much like Silverlight. Holy Water gives a +6 Ranged Attack bonus.

To make Holy Water, you must have completed the Legends Quest, or have completed enough of the quest to make Holy Water. To make Holy Water, you must first ask Gujuo to bless a Golden Bowl, and then you must fill up the bowl with water from the Kharazi Pool. Then you can use the water in the bowl on stackable enchanted vials, which are also made through the Legends Quest.
