You can start this quest by maneuvering through the Tree Gnome maze west of Port Khazard, and talking to Bolren. Use the map below if you are having trouble getting through the maze.

He explains to you that a gnomish orb of protection that had kept the Gnomes safe was captured by warring Khazard troops, and that you must recapture it for him. Take the mission and you'll show up outside the maze, next to Elkoy.

Move north to see the gnomish army. Make your way to Commander Montai. Note that, while both sides of the river are swarming with troops, they're not fighting. Montai will tell you that, in order to break the Khazard defenses, he needs 6 normal logs.

Cut the logs and bring them back to Montai. Speak to him again, and he'll tell you that you need to find 3 Gnome Trackers to help with aiming the ballista. Find them.

One is captured and held in a small prison on the east side of the Khazard base. He tells you the y-coordinate, 5.

The second is wandering just north of the western command building. He tells you the height coordinate, 4.

The final one is west of the area. He's insane, and gives you the final coordinate in the form of a riddle: 'More than me, less than our feet'. The x-coordinate here is random, so figure out the riddle and fire the ballista.

After firing the ballista, talk to Montai. He tells you to go into the breached fortress and take the orb. Kill the level 48 Khazard commander inside, and go up the ladder. Kill the next commander on the second floor, and search the chest for the orb.

Bail out of the fortress and head back to Montai. He'll tell you to make for the village as fast as you can. Talk to Elkoy outside the maze to teleport back to the entrance.

Talk to King Bolren and he'll reveal that the other 2 orbs were stolen by Khazard raiders, with a warlord. They left north. Head north and go to the left of West Ardougne's wall to see a pair of Khazard troopers and the level 112 Warlord. Kill them all.

Take the orbs that he drops and go back to Bolren, using Elkoy as a shortcut. You've completed the quest.

Rewards:2 Quest Points, 11,450 Attack Experience, and Gnome Amulet of Protection (see below)

The Gnome protection amulet is very strong against melee attacks. The Spirit Tree, at this point, can teleport you to the Tree Gnome Stronghold north of Ardougne, the Khazard battlefield, and north of Varrock.
