The Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup Mini-Game is a fun Mini-Game for those wanting to do more in the village. You will have to have completed the Jungle Potion Quest to participate. By speaking to Murcaily, east of Trufitius' hut, you will find that most jungle villagers hate to have their nice tidy village invaded by stubborn patches of jungle. Thus, you volunteer to help clear the jungle around the village and repair fences.

Preparation

You will need a couple of items for this Mini-Game, and you may want to bring a few others.

Required Items

Machete

The only item you will need for this Mini-Game is a machete. You will have to be wielding it when playing. Machetes do not have a required level to wield, however, Level 10 woodcutting is required to chop Light Jungle, Level 20 is required to chop Medium Jungle and Level 35 is required to chop Dense Jungle; thus, if you do not have a somehwat high woodcutting level, you may not be to do some parts of the Mini-Game. You can buy a Machete in the general store near the village.

Getting Started

To begin cleaning up, talk to Murcaily, who is near the big doors of the tree area, west of Trufitus' house. Ask him if there is anything interesting to do around here. He tells you that he needs help with cutting away the local jungle vegetation.

You can get some information about the villagers (10 in total), and what they can do for you, as well as various other bits of info about the Mini-Game and the village. It is not required that you ask these questions. Once you get to the menu with the questions, you can select "Ok, thanks", and you'll be able to start the mini-game.

Gaining Favor

The main objective of Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup is to gain favor. When you begin doing anything to help the village, the game begins and in the top right hand corner of the screen there is an indicator of how much favor you have.

There are several ways to gain favor in this game. Read on to find out how!

Chopping Jungle

There are three jungle types you can hack away. It's not hard to find jungle. They're scattered around Tai Bwo wannai, and recognisable by their "hack" option.

Tree

Level
Exp
Light Jungle
Content Image
10
32 per spar
Medium Jungle
Content Image
20
55 per spar
Dense Jungle
Content Image
35
80 per spar

During this process you'll get 1 woodcutting exp roughly every three seconds, and so often you'll chop down a layer of the jungle and receive a spar that pertains to whatever type of jungle you were chopping down. Sometimes, when a patch of jungle is cut all the way down, it will reveal a gem rock beneath it. You can mine that if you really want to. Sometimes you will find a Goutweeed Tuber, which can be planted and grown in the same way that herbs are. Once it is fully grown, it can be traded to Sanfew in Taverley for other herbs, or sold to Gabooty for trading sticks.

Killing Monsters

Killing monsters what are a threat to the village gives you Tai Bwo Favor. While you are chopping down jungle, there is a possibility that a variety of different enemies will jump out and attack you.

Remember anti-poision - spider poison can do up to 11 damage; tinderbox can be used on carcass for some quick food *
Tribesman
Bones
Simple, low level tribal enemy; will somehow pop out at you from behind tiny stumps claiming to hav ebeen hiding - but oh well, there are crazier things to worry about
Blue/Green/Orange Broodoo Victim
Blue/Green/Orange Broodoo Mask
Varyingly leveled undead jungle mages; these victims use a variety of weakening and damaging spells; you can use food, anti-posion or Relicym's Balm on the victims to weaken them

* - To make food from spider carcasses, you must first use your machete with any type of spar, giving you a number of skewers. Use a skewer on a spider carcass, then use a tinderbox with the skewered carcass to create an edible Spider On A Stick. Level 16 Cooking required.

Broodoo Victims

While still under the 'Killing Monsters' group of Favour gaining, Broodoo Victims are especially dangerous weird zombie jungle people. They cast weakening spells upon you and don't stop there - in fact, they can be quite dangerous with all their magics and voodoo. Broodoo witchcraft will continue to lower most of your combat stats at a modestly quick pace, as well as protect the Broodoo Victim - you won't be able to do more than 6 or so with regular weapons.

Tiki Avenger!

The answer is a variety of odd stuff. By simply 'using' any kind of food, anti-poision, or Relicym's Balm on the level diversed and color coded Broodoo Victims to weaken them and give you a big advantage. While they arent actually all that hard without their weaknesess, the fight can take a ridiculous long time and if you don't pay attention, they'll get you.

Broodoo Victims drop various Broodoo Masks, which are fun to wear and make you look silly. However, if you take two snakeskins, eight nails and level 35 Crafting to any Broodoo Mask it turns into a Broodoo Shield, with the fun ability that in combat it has a one in ten chance of casting a spell on your enemy, as long as your enemy is close, has over half of its life points, and has all its combat levels at base levels. Each shield has 10 charges to cast a spell.

Shield
Spell
Poision Shield
Lowers enemies defence by 1 point first, then by 5% after that
Disease Shield
Lowers enemies strength by 1 point first, then by 5% after that
Combat Shield
Lowers enemies attack by 1 point first, then by 5% after that

Repairing Fences

Once you have some thatching spars, you can repair/reinforce the fence. The fences are indicated by a long red line on the mini-map. Repairing/reinforcing the fence, will give both woodcutting exp and Tai Bwo Favour. The village needs protection!

Content Image

Reinforcing/repairing the fence gives woodcutting exp, depending on what spar type you use. You gain the same amount of woodcutting exp per spar used as you do per spar chopped (see above table).

You must keep hacking away jungle and reparing/reinforcing the fence, to gain a lot of Tai Bwo Favour.

Rewards

All in all, you should basically stand around, chop spars until your inventory is full, and then reinforce the fence till your inventory is empty, then repeat. During this you will encounter enemies to kill and give you favor.

The main reward of Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup are trading sticks, which lead to many things that we will get to in a moment. When you have at least 1% Favour, you can get trading sticks. First off, when you have some Favour, talk to Murcaily, who will take away a random amount of your favour and give you back the amount he took times ten. The other villagers also have trading sticks to offer, so talk to them. However, after you receive sticks from someone, you must do some more work before that person hands over anymore sticks.

With these sticks, there are a variety of things that are now available to you. See the table below.
