Location: Varies; to begin, talk to Elnock Inquisitor in Puro-Puro (a portal is always located just inside Zanaris)

Requirements: At least 17 Hunting (you can catch more implings with a higher level); high Thieving and Strength levels recommended; enough completion of the Lost City Quest recommended so you always have a portal to Puro-Puro

Ever been pushed around just a little bit too much by an imp? Chasing one trying to get all those dumb little beads only to have the thing teleport right before you can land the finishing blow! Well, now's your chance to get back on those little implings.

Impetuous Impulses is a mini-game based upon the hunter skill. You will track down these devilish little implings and catch them, getting back you're precious items that they've stolen over the years!

Getting Started

This Mini-Game consists of capturing pesky implings. You can either find implings randomly scattered through out the RuneScape world or you can go to their homeworld of Puro-Puro. To start catching them, you're going to have to go to Puro-Puro anyway, so head there.

Puro-Puro is the magical realm of imps, which can be accessed by entering crop circle portals. There is a permanent crop circle located in the lost city of Zanaris. You must have completed a portion of the Lost City quest to access the Lost City. Furthermore, randomly across RS crop circles can appear in wheat fields. You can identify them by hovering your mouse over the swirling and having the option "Center of crop circle". You can leave Puro-Puro by traveling back through the crop circle.

Once you have entered Puro-Puro, have a chat with the resident gnome, Elnock Inquisitor. He has been hired to track down someone's lost items, undoubtedly stolen by mischevious imps. He will tell how to navigate the maze of Puro-Puro and how to catch implings; he will also supply you with the needed equipment and, when the time comes, exchange whatever implings you have captured for useful rewards.

* - Butterfly jars can be converted into Impling jars. To do so, you will first need to use a pestle and mortar on 8 anchovies to make a thick paste. Next, with an empty vial in your inventory, see the chemist in Rimmington, and get from him a sieve, and use it on the paste to get a vial of anchovy oil. Next, use some flowers (Farming or Mithril Seeds) on the anchovy oil, and then use the product on the lamp oil still in the chemists house. You can then use a butterfly jar on the still to get an impling jar.

Game Overview

The point of this mini-game is to catch implings, some of which are awaiting you within the wheat maze of Puro-Puro. You can enter the maze by selecting to 'Push Through' the magical wheat. The speed that you push through the wheat depends on your strength level. The mini-map does not work in Puro-Puro, which complicates things; to make matters worse, the maze often changes around and is never the same.

In the maze or anywhere else, to catch an impling you will need an empty impling jar in your inventory and a butterfly net in your hand. You can then catch an impling by simply clicking it's 'catch' option, but the implings are extremely quick, so this is easier than it sounds. If you catch it, it will be stored in a jar in your inventory.

In Puro-Puro, however, there are enough imps around to notice what you are doing and retaliate. While you're there, other imps will try to pickpocket you and free any implings you have caught. The higher thieving level you have, the harder it will be for the imps to pickpocket you. Having imp repellent in your inventory will also help.

The following table shows the types of implings you can catch, the Hunter level required to catch them, and the experience gain. Please note that the experience you gain from catching them in Puro-Puro differs from if you catch them in the outside world.

Rewards

First off, you can exchange your captured implings for various items from Elnock Inquisitor in Puro-Puro. These items will assist you in your attempts to capture more implings.

The real benefit of Impetuous Impulses, however, is the rewards given to you by the implings you've captured. Any captured impling you have in a jar can be 'released' from his prison. The type of reward you can get depends on the impling.
