Cooking EXP Quest Rewards

Cooking is one of the most popular skills in RuneScape, and allows you to provide yourself with food for Quests and Combat (both training and PKing). Food heals a number of hit points when eaten, and while most foods heal a fixed amount, some vary in the amount they heal. Certain foods also compromise a number of 'bites', each of which heal a set amount.

To make food with the Cooking skill, players use a raw ingredient (or sometimes a mixture of raw ingredients) with a fire (usually made with the Firemaking skill) or a range (found inside buildings around RuneScape) and if they are successful, they will receive the cooked food. If they aren't successful, they will receive burned food. This is useless and should be dropped. The higher a player's Cooking level is, the less chance they have of burning ingredients, but some ingredients can always be burned.

As you continue to cook and gain levels you will be able to cook more interesting foods which heal an increasing amount of hitpoints.

Meats

Yes, fish is meat. All items listed here can be cooked on either a fire or range, and have no intermediary steps.

Cooking Gauntlets

Upon completing the Family Crest Quest, you can choose to have Cooking Gauntlet's as a reward. When worn, these Gauntlet's will help you successfully cook lobster, swordfish, and shark more often. When you reach a certain level, you will never ever again burn certain fish. This level varies for all fish, as well as if you wearing gauntlets. The table below gives information on burning some high level fish.

Sinew

Sinew is required for crossbow strings (see Crafting Guide for spinning). To make sinew, you need to use a raw meat (beef, chicken, bear, etc.) over a range. You can then choose the option to make it into a sinew. This can be done at any level.

How to make Non-meat

Flour is a necessary base for a great deal of foods.

To get flour you will need some wheat and a pot. You can pick wheat at many locations including fields east of Draynor Village and north of Ardougne. Pots can be bought at any general store. Take your wheat to a windmill and use the wheat on the hopper at the top floor, then collect your flour in a pot at the bottom. Each pot will only hold one load of ground wheat.

To make dough you will have to add water to flour. To get the water use a bucket or a jug on a sink or fountain. Add the water to the flour and you will have dough. Select the appropriate dough for your purpose, whether it's bread dough, pastry dough, or a pizza base.

Bread

Bread is one of the base foods of runescape, and not entirely that useful. You can make standard bread as a relatively useless food, or pita bread for an Ughtanki kebab.

When making your dough (see making dough) select pitta dough and then cook it on a stove or fire to get pitta bread. Making sure you have your knife in your inventory, use the cooked Ugthanki meat (from al Kharid desert), tomato and onion with the bowl to get a kebab mix. Use the kebab mix with the pitta bread to get a Ugthanki Kebab.

All bread is made from bread dough, from flour.

Stew/Curry

To make stew, fill a Bowl(general store) with water from a sink or fountain then add a potato. Then add some cooked meat and cook on a stove or fire to get a stew.

You may upgrade your stew to curry by using some spice on the cooked stew. (Spice can be obtained from the spice merchant in East Ardougne)

Evil Dave's Evil Stew of DOOM (Spicy Stew)

During the Recipe for Disaster Quest, you will find yourself having to make some evil, spicy stew for Evil Dave. Since the stew 'varies', it is not included in the table; however, information on the stew can be found in the Evil Dave Subquest.

Pizzas

All pizzas are made from pizza bases, from flour. The more advanced pizzas are simply adding a reagent on top of a plain pizza.

TO make a plain pizza, first use a tomato on the pizza base. Then use the cheese on the base. Cook the raw pizza on a stove or fire to get a plain pizza.

Tomatoes and cheese can be purchased at the food store at Port Sarim and also spawn at a house in Rimmington and at the wilderness bandits camp.

Cook some meat (any meat will do) and use the meat on a plain pizza to get a meat pizza
Cook some anchovies and use the cooked anchovies on a plain pizza to get an anchovy pizza.
Use a knife on a pineapple to dice it. Use the pineapple pieces on a plain pizza to get a pineapple pizza.
(You can get pineapples off trees on Brimhaven or at food stores inside the Grand Tree and the Tree Gnome Village.)

Cakes

To make a cake, collect the reagents of flour, an egg, milk, and a cake tin.

Eggs can be collected from any chicken pens such as the ones in Lumbridge and Falador. To get a bucket with a dairy cow. When you have all three ingredients in you inventory use one with the cake tin and the rest will automatically fill into the tin. Use the uncooked cake with a stove or fire to get a Cake.

Use a Chocolate bar on a Cake to get a Chocolate Cake. (chocolate bars respawn in the Cooking Guild and can be purchased from the food store at Port Sarim.)

To make a Fish Cake, you must collect breadcrumbs, ground codfish, ground kelp, and ground giant crab meat, and put them in a cake tin. Then you must cook the tin on a range, and you will have Fish Cake.

*To make Apple Mush, you need to obtain sixteen apples and have four buckets in your inventory. Note:If you have done parts of the Recipe for Disaster quest, you can purchase your cooking apples there. If you have not, you can purchase a few in the food store in Yanille. You may also pick up apple spawns located in the farming shop north of Ardounge, and in the Cooking Guild. When you come to the brewery, there will be Cider-Presses in which you can squash you apples into the mush required to make Cider.

To brew ales, you need to locate one of the two Breweries. One of them is located in West Keldagrim, on the second floor of the bar, and the second one is located down below in the basement of the bar in Port Phasmatys. You need two buckets of water, some barley malt (roast barley on a range), a pot (to contain your ale yeast), and some ale yeast (purchased from Blandebir- Keldagrim and Metarialus- Port Phasmatys). These two fellows are near the Brewery. You also need the reagent, which will determine which type of brew you are going to make.

When you reach the brewery, and have obtained all of the ingredients to start brewing, pour the two buckets of water you have into the empty vat. Next, you need to add two barley malts, and then add the reagent depending on what brew you wish to make. Use your ale yeast on the vat. After you have completed adding all of the ingredients, you need to wait quite a long time for the brew to finish fermenting.

The wait can be up to a full day. Note: If you try to empty your vat too early, you will be presented with a caution message. If you choose to drain your vat before the brew is done maturing, you will have wasted all of your ingredients. After, you have waited patiently for your brew to finish maturing, bring eight empty beer glasses with you to the brewery. Turn the valve near the vat and use your eight beer glasses with the barrel. If you want to minimize the amount of space taken up in your inventory, I suggest that you either buy a calquat keg or grow a calquat tree and hollow out the calquat you pick from it. Calquat kegs hold four doses of brew.

Gnome Foods and Drinks

Because of the extensiveness of the special gnome foods the specific guide can be located here.

Cooking Tips

One of the best and quickest place to cook for members is on the fire in the Rogue's Den. For free-to-play, the best place to cook is probably going to be from the Edgville Bank, running down to the Range just west of the bank.

Another useful thing to level cooking is the Cooking Guild, located just outside Varrock, to the West, behind Juliet's House. At level 32 Cooking and with a Chef's Hat, you can enter and have access to many foods and Cooking equipment. See the Cooking Guild Guide for more info.

Extra Cooking Info

There are some other, extra things that you should know about while raising cooking:

Cape of Accomplishment

The ultimate reward for getting level 99 Cooking is not only the great ability you will have in the skill, but the Cape of Accomplishment that you will have the oppurtunity to purchase. For more information on Capes of Accomplishment, see the Skill Capes page.
